When a police officer responds to an alarm activation, and after investigation finds no evidence of criminal activity, the Officer will designate the alarm signal as a false alarm.

False alarms are costly and dangerous because they divert police officers from proactive crime prevention efforts. They also delay response to calls that may be true emergencies.

When a police officer responds to an alarm activation, and after investigation finds no evidence of criminal activity, the officer will designate the alarm signal as a false alarm.

Every year our police department responds to thousands of false alarms in our community.
In fact, 97.4% of all alarm calls are false.
This amounts to approximately 15-17% of all calls for police service.
In a community like ours that is the equivalent of seven full time Police Officers doing nothing but answering false alarm calls eight hours a day, forty hours a week.
